'Ambergris' is a 23 minute psycho-geographical period drama; concerned as much with the landscapes of the mind as with those of the earth. I wrote, directed and edited the film, which was produced and funded through my business Smith & Collins. It represents my first adventure into narrative fiction cinema.

The short video below provides excerpts and information about 'Ambergris' (3 mins). The full film is also available to watch below (24 mins).

'Ambergris' screened at the following film festivals in 2016:

South Australian Screen Awards (Winner, Best Music - Luke Altmann), ARFF Berlin, Southway Film Fest, London Golden Scout IFF, Largo Film Awards, Bucharest Film Awards, Short to the Point Film Fest.

A 5 minute horror short with a compassionate heart, 'The Apple Tree' is currently in the early stages of development. This film is a stylistic stepping stone to a future feature length production entitled 'The Inheritance' (currently co-writing with Toby Bramwell).

The core creative team from 'Ambergris' has been retained for this film. We are currently exploring funding opportunities for 'The Apple Tree' (synopsis available on request).

This 15 minute documentary tells the story of Denis Smith. He used to be in a high pressure sales job suffering with depression, debt and alcohol problems. Then he discovered light painting, and his life changed forever.

Winner, Best Documentary in the South Australian Screen Awards 2012.
